Anura is situated between Paarl and Stellenbosch in the foothills of the Simonsberg mountain range and has traditionally been planted with red wine such as Mourvédre, Petit Verdot, Grenache, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese and Malbec.
It is, however, also the home to Forest Hill Cheesery which produces a range of artisan white mould, soft and mature style cheeses. The cheesery began its’ journey in the 2000, focussing on wonderful rich flavoured, creamy white mould cheeses, such as Camembert and Brie. This expanded into production of these and Bella, Marisch and Manchego cheeses. The flagship cheese is Anura Mountain Cheese, is a Gruyere style cheese matured for five to seven months to develop complex, rich flavours.
All cheeses are made in small batches and entirely by hand, meaning that you will be having a boutique cheese experience at the beautiful Anura tasting rooms.
