Winter wine

July 02, 2018

One of the ripple effects of the revocation of the Edict on Nantes in 1685 was an influx of French Huguenots into the Western Cape, bringing with them their various crafts such as viticulture and oenology (the growing of grapes and making of wine, brandy and vinegar).

Wine has always been one of the central themes in our provinces history, and this shows in the vast array of amazing locally made wines we produce. This week, we are looking at some of the best collections in the Cape, accessible places to taste some true greats.
