There are few better ways to experience a city than to live on the outskirts of the central business district, close enough to be able to be part of all the action, yet still maintaining the comforts of a well-appointed apartment to call home.
Gardens in Cape Town is such an area, leafy and tree-lined, with classic Victorian style structures giving way to modern architecture. Everything is close by, from the best Asian menu at Chef Pons on Mill Street (an unassuming spot with a killer selection), to the museums and art galleries a mere stroll away.
This elegantly African-themed apartment is perfect as a launch pad to explore the city, and as a haven to return to after a long day of soaking up the local delights. Start your day with breakfast at Café Paradiso, head over to the beach for the afternoon, and come back to the fabulous Bombay Bicycle Club for dinner before heading out to the world renowned Artscape Theatre to catch a show.
If your home base is in Gardens, all of these activities are less than a 15 min Uber ride away. This 1 bedroom delight is easy to call home, coming with everything you require to make your relaxation time headache free, Wifi, air-conditioning (a must over peak season), a LED TV and a fully equipped kitchen. Newly renovated, this gorgeous little gem is now available via Accommodation Hunter.
There is always an energy at Tigers Milk in Long Street, a perpetually pumping environment that provides entertainment through the upbeat music, the wait staff and the off-the-wall decor. An expansive menu, that covers many staples as well as signature dishes, leaves little to be desired. Try all their burgers, seriously, keep going back until you have had each one, they are that good, this is man food at it’s finest. Also amazing is their acorn fed pork, seasoned with Asian spices, hoisin, red peppers and spring & red onions. Finish off with a Jack Daniels-spiked chocolate mousse with vanilla ice cream, it’s sublime. The pace is fast, the venue is buzzing and the food is a treat, enjoy.
The V&A Waterfront is one of Cape Town’s most well-known tourist attractions, a fully operational harbour set amidst a world class shopping mall. Spectacular apartments line the sailing marina and surround The One and Only Hotel. The Clock Tower, the Time Ball Tower and the various boat tours and activities are all popular year round attractions.
