We’ve had a beer day, and afternoon beach party, and now for a stunning summer feast at one of the most beautiful wineries in the Cape.
This is a beautiful three course luncheon paired with perfectly selected Avondale wines. The food and wine are the star attractions, but let that not detract from the sheer entertainment value brought by your hosts Johnathan Grieve and FABER Chef, Dale Stevens, they are delightful.
These Field to Feast extravaganzas include a guided farm tour (including vineyards and food gardens) and need to be booked well in advance due to their soaring popularity.
Allow yourself to be dazzled, wowed by amazing fare and decadent beauty, you deserve it.
Crack open the kegs, bust the spigots and let beer of many flavours and origins flow!
Plan ahead, book an Uber and a table, grab a few friends and let the hops times roll! Featuring over two hundred beers, this event is billed as “the premier celebration of all-things-beer” in Cape Town, and you certainly do not want to miss it.
Sixty breweries, both local and international are all going to be putting their best foot forward, with promotions, activities, tastings and pairings and all manner of competitions.
There will be a great variety of food stalls serving delicious fare to line your stomach and ensure you don’t overdo it to early in the proceedings!
Anachronistically, beer is a fantastic companion to the winter chills, and this year (for the 3rd year running) the Woodstock Winter Beer Festival is set to impress.
You will have opportunity to taste the latest offerings from some of the most celebrated breweries in the country such as Drifter Brewing Company (The Cape Town Blonde and The Stranded Coconut), Woodstock Brewery, RIOT Beer, Lakeside Beerworks, Afro-Caribbean Brewing Co and more.
These microbreweries have more awards between them than you can shake a stick at, and we’re anticipating a fine crop of brews to taste, sip and quaff, several of which will be specially created one-off winter beers. Beer needs company, of both the human and the edible variety, and once again, the food will be local, seasonal and savoury to complement the unique dark brews of winter.
This festival is very well attended, with something for everyone, live music, great beer, tasty snacks and an ongoing donation drive for NOAH, a local non-profit that provides assistance to old age homes.
The 25th of February brings us the 8th installation of the Constantia Fresh Festival, a brilliant blend of wine and food that takes place annually at the Buitenverwachting (Beyond Expectations) Wine Farm.
With a huge selection of exhibitors that bring their best wares for sampling and to delight visitors, you can sip fine wines and craft beers, nibble on delicatessen and organic fare prepared to perfection by 7 top local chefs. This is a four way pairing of venue, food, music and wine and the result is an amazing day out.
Constantia is one of the oldest suburbs in Cape Town, with its own wine route through vineyards that were originally laid down in the late 17###sup/sup### century. Wine has been at the epicentre of this region since its inception, and there is no better way to appreciate it than with the surrounding estates’ chefs complementing every delicious sip with a tailor-made bite.
Off the back of the successful 2016 iteration of this event The Grand White is back this year to bedeck, bedazzle and wow. As the name implies, the theme and dress code is white (with a touch of green), which leads to a very visually pleasing luxury picnic at a secret location in the Mother City that’s only revealed to ticket holders on the day via sms.
This is yet another amazing and inventive way in which we Capetonians find our day in the sun. Once at the venue you will have the option of renting some of those picnic essentials such as picnic baskets, tables and chairs; unless you have your own, which you are more than welcome to bring along. The entertainment will be a selection of local acts (music and comedy) and the food promises to be delicious.
As difficult as it may be to describe an event that is still shrouded in secrecy, one thing is for certain. As a concept event, where the goal is to have an inspired and unencumbered day of frivolity and togetherness, The Grand White consistently delivers an experience that is unforgettable. Tickets are limited, get them here.
