Post-winter health kick - Mango Ginger - Part 3

July 19, 2018

This beautiful bakery and coffee shop can be found in Observatory en route to the Southern Suburbs.

Originally, the focus was on gluten- and wheat-free food and cakes and that focus has not changed but expanded. Their offering now also includes sugar-free and vegan options, and at least half of Mango Ginger’s menu is vegetarian with a large variety of innovative, plant based meals.

Try a wrap, with honey, ginger and soya marinated free range chicken strips with julienned carrots, mange tout, spring onion, lettuce and honey mustard dressing.

Or go for a salad meal with creamy goat's chevin, avocado and roasted chilli butternut cubes on a large garden salad, garnished with seeds and  sprouts.

You will leave here feeling full, nourished and satisfied that you have done something great for your body!

July 18, 2018

You’ll spot Rcaffe on Long Street in the centre of the CBD of Cape Town and it has a romantic, bohemian/funky feel to it, with a large array of healthy options to go with your premium artisan coffee.

They boast a very popular banting menu and on it you will find scrumptious items like the Banting Benedict - poached eggs topped with rich hollandaise sauce, crispy bacon, creamy goats milk cheese, cherry tomatoes roasted in rosemary and olive oil, sprinkled with pumpkin seeds and served on a bed of fresh rocket.

If you are looking for a lunch, they do a tender Mediterranean lamb - oven roasted (to perfection) leg of lamb in rosemary and garlic, served on seasonal roasted vegetables, fresh coriander, aubergine sauce and double cream tzaziki.

Give it a whirl, you’ll soon become a regular!
