Clanwilliam, it’s worth the dam drive ;-) - Cederberg Heritage Route- Part 3

August 30, 2018

Enjoy the casual pace and ease of travel by “slackpacking” some of the six amazing community trails in the Cederberg area.

Your luggage and accommodation are taken care of, the only thing left is to stroll the path and take in the splendour of the mountains in spring.

You will be staying over at some of the beautiful Moravian mission villages of Heuningvlei, Brugkraal and Wupperthal, and the cost of the hike serves us a much needed cash injection into the local communities, where the money is put to good use to improve quality of life and education.

The natural splendour is amazing, doing something good for the locals while you are there, priceless.

Clanwilliam, it’s worth the dam drive ;-) - The Rooibos Tea House- Part 2

August 29, 2018

For a truly unique perspective into the world of the famously fragrant Rooibos Tea, this is the place to visit.

It’s the only Rooibos Tea House in the world, and within its doors you can taste over one hundred different flavours and subtle blends of rooibos tea that are available to taste and purchase. Amongst these are caramel, buchu, peach, green, fermented, espresso, lemongrass, hoodia and mint teas, as well as infused rooibos varieties (such as lavender, chai and camomile).

In the words of the creative sisters Marietjie and Sanet: “Join us for a cup of Rooibos on our stoep (verandah) and experience so much more than tea.”

Clanwilliam, it’s worth the dam drive ;-) - Clanwilliam Wildflower Show - Part 1

August 28, 2018

In a tradition that dates back to 1972, the annual flower show is a stunning showcase of the unique flora from the Ramskop Nature Reserve and the greater Clanwilliam district. It not only draws attention to the splendour of the spring displays, but also sheds a light on conservation efforts around these magnificent specimens of our local floral kingdom.

You’ll find a great selection of activities including music performances, art competitions for kids, hiking trails and trips such as the Rooibos Route.

This years theme is “Rejuvenate!”, which is something we sorely need after the most recent dry spell!
