Buckle up everybody, it’s time for a day out hiking, kloofing and abseiling! Gordon’s Bay, on the East Coast, plays host to this amazing way to experience nature.
Definitely for the slightly more adventurous, considering that kloofing is essentially jumping off waterfalls into rock pools, awesome! The kloofing jumps are up to you and how courageous you are feeling but they go from 3 to 23 meters in height.
After a leisurely walk you will be treated to a healthy picnic and then get to face your vertigo and adrenaline down a steep abseiling course.
You will want to round all of this off with a nice cocktail when you’re done!
One picturesque 44 kilometer drive out of Cape Town you will find the Atlantis dune field. A huge expanse of pristine and fine due sand where current National sandboarding champ Dave Rademeyer will put you through your paces and teach you how to shred.
Kids are welcome and they have boards and safety gear in all shapes and sizes. You need to factor in that this is roughly a three hour activity (not including drive time), mostly in bright sunlight on highly reflective dunes. Sunscreen etc and plenty of water are the order of the day.
If you find yourself falling in love with the sport, you can buy gear and get great advice from the guys running this course.
